Assistant Town Manager or another designee
Supervisory Responsibility:

Public Works, with reporting, office duties, and meetings at Town Hall, Public Works, Police Department, and other locations 1.
Position Summary:
This position is entry-level and performs administrative, technical, and clerical functions for the Department through the intake and processing of applications and permits for building construction, licensing, and land use applications. This position also assists with other duties as requested. 2.
Responsibilities:
These are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties. Assists in the reviewing, processing, and issuing residential and commercial building permit applications, in person and online Assists in the reviewing, processing, and issuing of payments for the Department, in person and online Assists in the reviewing, process, and issue residential rental licenses, peddlers' licenses, business licenses, and contractor licenses Administrative support by answering inquiries from the public, setting appointments and inspections, gathering documents for inspections, etc. Perform technical tasks and data entry for the intake and processing of building permits, code enforcement violations, rental inspections, land use applications and other Planning & Inspection Department functions Other duties as assigned 3.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent 4.
Experience:
At least one (1) year in a permitting or customer service setting or related field 5.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic knowledge of the permit process and applicable regulations Skill in obtaining and analyzing facts Ability to collect, tabulate, and analyze statistical data Ability to read maps and deeds Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications that apply to work assigned Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Town employees, contractors, property owners, representatives from other agencies, and the public Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and in writing Ability to learn the Town policies and procedures To read maps and deeds To work with Town staff, vendors, and residents Project a professional, helpful image to create a sense of confidence internally and externally 6.
ADA Requirements:
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects Work requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, walking, fingering, and grasping Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities Mental acuity is required to make rational decisions through sound logic and deduction The employee is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, hazards, and atmospheric conditions The employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment 7.

Possess and retain a valid motor vehicle operator's license o All motor vehicle violations must be reported to the supervisor immediately o A good driving record is required to retain position Must pass background checks including motor vehicle, criminal, and drug o Additional checks may be required; i.e. credit
