Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide essential support and care to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, group homes, and private residences. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for clients by assisting with daily activities, monitoring health status, and ensuring a safe, respectful environment. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those requiring long-term care, memory support, or specialized assistance with developmental disabilities or dementia. The case in Brooklyn CT. The hours are Fri to Sun 5pm-9pm. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support. Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure health stability. Support medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality and safety. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as necessary. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces. Use assistive devices like Hoyer lifts or other mobility aids to safely transfer clients with heavy lifting needs. Observe and report changes in client behavior or health status promptly to healthcare professionals or supervisors. Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering a respectful and engaging environment for residents or clients. Follow all safety protocols including CPR and first aid procedures; participate in ongoing training related to dementia care, Alzheimer's care, autism support, hospice care, and other specialized services. Qualifications Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly desirable. Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring. Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional training in HIPAA compliance is preferred. Experience with dementia care, memory care, Alzheimer's support, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities enhances suitability for this role. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using appropriate equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work compassionately with diverse populations including seniors and individuals with disabilities. Familiarity with care plans, home health procedures, hospice protocols, and social work principles is advantageous. Demonstrated reliability with excellent communication skills; ability to work independently while following detailed instructions.
