Prep & Palate is hiring experienced chefs to provide in-home meal prep services for clients throughout the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. This is a unique opportunity for chefs who love creating custom menus, working with fresh ingredients, and building a more personal connection with the people they cook for. Instead of working the line or preparing the same dishes every day, you'll design menus around each client's preferences, shop for ingredients, cook in their home, package meals, stock the fridge, and leave the kitchen clean. Our clients are looking for high-quality, customized meals — and we're looking for chefs who take pride in thoughtful service, clean cooking, and making people's lives easier. About the Role Prep & Palate provides personalized in-home meal prep services for busy professionals, families, and individuals who want fresh, customized meals prepared in their own kitchen. This is not a restaurant position, catering line position, or delivery service. Our chefs handle the full meal prep experience from menu planning to cleanup. As a Prep & Palate chef, you may be matched with one or more clients based on your availability, location, cooking style, and the client's needs. What You'll Do As a Prep & Palate chef, you will be responsible for: Creating custom weekly menus based on each client's food preferences and dietary needs Writing grocery lists for approved menus Grocery shopping before the client's cook day Traveling to client homes for scheduled cook days Cooking fresh meals in the client's kitchen Portioning, packaging, and labeling meals Stocking the client's refrigerator Cleaning the kitchen before leaving Communicating professionally with clients and the Prep & Palate team What We're Looking For We are looking for chefs who are reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently in private homes.

Ideal candidates have:

Professional cooking, meal prep, catering, personal chef, or restaurant experience Strong knife skills and kitchen confidence The ability to create simple, healthy, flavorful meals Experience with dietary preferences such as gluten-free, dairy-free, high-protein, low-carb, vegetarian, vegan, family-friendly meals, or other special diets Strong time management skills Excellent cleanliness and food safety standards Reliable transportation A professional and friendly communication style The ability to work independently without direct supervision Culinary school is a plus, but not required. Relevant hands-on cooking experience is most important. Schedule This is a flexible independent contractor role. Most cook days take place during weekday daytime hours. You may start with one client and have the opportunity to take on additional clients as availability and performance allow. Most standard cook days pay between $90-$205+ , depending on the number of recipes prepared. Many cook days take approximately 2-4 hours on-site, plus time for menu planning, grocery list writing, and shopping. Additional pay may be available for: Grocery shopping A la carte items Cooking classes Private dining events Special client requests Requirements Prior professional cooking, personal chef, catering, meal prep, or restaurant experience Reliable transportation Ability to grocery shop before cook days Ability to bring basic chef tools as needed Comfortable working in client homes Strong communication and follow-through Food handler certification or ability to obtain one Liability insurance or willingness to obtain coverage Must be dependable, organized, and professional About Prep & Palate Prep & Palate provides personalized in-home meal prep and private chef services.
