Delegation Technical Proficiency Full Job Description Description:
Responsibilities of the Pharmacist-in-Charge include the following: Supervises pharmacy staff including pharmacists, Pharmacist Interns, other clerical pharmacy team and pharmacy technicians. Directs, coordinates, and supervises all pharmacy activities including drug preparation, sterile products preparation, dispensing, and clinical pharmacy services. Performs duties of the staff pharmacist, as well. Oversees daily cleaning, pump reporting, aseptic technique daily monitoring, reporting status, and employee changes to the state BOP. Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of pharmacotherapy and intravenous therapy. Performs oversight of department's performance improvement initiatives and coordinates department QA activities for pharmacy and nursing agencies. Performs performance reviews, at least annually, on pharmacy personnel. Participates/coordinates in the orientation and training of pharmacy, operations, and other organization employees. Participates in branch management and inter-departmental meetings as required. Follows established channels of authority and communications throughout the organization. Maintains on-call schedule for pharmacists and covers as needed. Ensures proper licensure with all states in which the pharmacy operates. Ensures competency of all pharmacy staff in use of pharmacokinetics principles and formula and assessing patient laboratory values. Report any misconduct, suspicious or unethical activities to the Compliance Officer. Ensure ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations; ensure that the pharmacy meets or exceeds accreditation standards and implement ''best practices'' in all pharmacy activities. Resolve pharmacy patient concerns and complaints and provide pharmacy patient counseling as needed. Conduct patient profile monitoring as necessary. Communicate with medical professionals regarding patient status and response to medication, and when necessary to resolve patient issues. Interact with pharmaceutical manufacturers' reps as needed to maintain current knowledge of pharmaceutical products and to manage changes to formulary. Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies. Maintain a system of lot and batch numbers that will allow for recall of medication products. Manage pharmaceutical recalls. Assume on-call responsibilities in accordance with pharmacy guidelines. Report product incidents as required in accordance with pharmacy policy. Supervise the activities of pharmacy technicians and other department personnel. Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies. Participate in the pharmacy's Performance Improvement program as requested by the Performance Improvement Coordinator. Participate in pharmacy committees when requested. Participate in in-service education programs provided by the pharmacy. Pursue continuing education programs appropriate to job responsibilities and license requirements. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
2 years in the same role with Specialty or Home Infusion pharmacy. Experience with URAC and ACHC is preferable. Knowledge of USP 797 and Aseptic Technique. CPR+ knowledge, preferable. Active pharmacist licensure in good standing with California State Board of Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy. Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records. Ability to evaluate options and make efficient decisions. Current knowledge of all applicable state and federal pharmacy laws, rules, and regulations. Willingness to obtain out-of-state licensures. Ability to organize and plan the activities of subordinates, and to delegate appropriately. Computer skills that include proficiency with spreadsheets and use of the internet, as well as word processing, and efficient use of the internet and e-mail.
