What You Will Do To provide the professional, clinical and technical knowledge, and skills and expertise required for the provision of comprehensive pharmaceutical care that supports the mission, values and philosophy of Pharmacy Services and Sharp HealthCare. Required Qualifications Completed ASHP accredited PGY1 and a minimum of 3 years of experience;Or Completed ASHP accredited PGY1 and 2 and a minimum of 1 year experience;Or 5 Years pharmacist experience. 2 Years leadership experience. California Pharmacist License

Essential Functions Act as a department liaison Coordinates and provides educational inservices and information presentation to hospital and medical staff committees and the medical, nursing or pharmacy staffs, students, residents, and/or patients. Provides staff development through newsletter articles, drug monographs, and mentoring. Oversees the department 's CE program. Organizes and provides the agenda for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Participates in medical staff advisory groups, multidisciplinary teams, focus groups, task forces, or other designated activities that will further the practice of pharmacy. Assists Pharmacy Services in keeping up to date on healthcare changes, specifically regarding Pharmacy practice, and including new challenges and opportunities for tbe profession. Human resource management For direct reports, assures staff performance appraisals for assigned cost center are conducted in a timely manner (within 30 days). Maintains up to date employee records. Manages timecards Coaches, counsels, and institutes developmental and corrective action plans as necessary. Assists staff to access services provided by Human Resources and EAP. Assures that all pertinent information is provided to staff through staff meetings and other forms of formal and informal communication. Actively supports leadership decisions and is accountable for ensuring department compliance with them. Assures employee satisfaction process was completed in the manner prescribed and in accordance within established timeline. Achieves financial outcomes Is held accountable for maintaining pharmaceutical budget. Develops achievable action plans when actual exceeds budgeted cost. Responsible for assessing expenditures related to drug therapies including drug and non-drug costs , and costs of clinical outcomes, including adverse events and treatment failures. Identifies and prioritizes targets. Provides financial input to Pharmacy Management Status Reports. Uses available reports data bases and customer feedback to identify opportunities for financial gain and prioritization of formal pharmacoeconomic improvement efforts. Coordinate the design and implementation pharmacy programs. Involves staff content/expertise as available. Track and report document outcomes improvements and therapy cost reduction from MUEs, interventions, guidelines, IV to PO, pathways, etc. Assist Pharmacy Management.to ensure that financial officers are kept well informed of the positive financial impact of Pharmacy Services on resource utilization patient care Patient care Provides input to Pharmacy Management status reports. When appropriate, presents pharmacy quality performance improvement measures to medical staff committees and to Quality Council. Assists Pharmacy Management in determining the needs of Pharmacy and its customers. Obtains input of service providers. Uses formal measurements when formulating advice to Pharmacy and institutional management. Participates in the selection, development, implementation, outcomes analysis, reporting, and maintenance of selected multi-site pharmacotherapy improvement programs, including clinical pathway, disease state management programs, or other cross-continuum pharmacotherapy programs. Reviews and reports on progress of integration plan and identifies additional areas and plans for improvement. Demonstrates competency in efficiently and quickly identifying valuable resources (information, people, etc.), practice precedents/models, both internal and external to SHC. Avoids re-work when possible and appropriate. Provides and/or coordinates formal needs-based education. Educates, promotes and assists the coordination of staff involvement in clinical responsibilities with formal certification in key activities and skill sets. Assists Pharmacy Management with the development and implementation of system integration programs. Reviews and reports (P&T, medical staff, and quality committees) on the progress of the program and identifies additional areas for improvement. Assists in ensuring that the organization meets all Joint Commission, DHS, and CMA expectations in regards to quality of medication usage. Program oversight Demonstrates cooperation, teamwork, initiative and flexibility toward the fulfillment of hospital and departmental goals. Leads by example. Self motivated. Self-starter. Training, Experiential Education, and Residency Oversight Develops or through delegation oversees staff training and competency, experiential education, residency program, and practice advancement. Maintains a training and competency program for all pharmacy staff that meets accreditation standards for clinical operations Maintains proficiency in the preceptor roles and actively emulates education/mentorship skills Maintains student program meets contracted responsibilities Serves as residency program director and maintains residency program that meets accreditation standards Regulatory compliance Assures quality outcomes and a favorable Joint Commission review through compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements. Reviews or coordinates the review of quality variance reports for assigned cost centers, identifies trends, and develops action plans for resolution. Identifies and trends learning needs of staff and works with other management team members to assure needs are met. Develops, updates, and implements policies and procedures as necessary for the clinical operation and control of assigned cost centers. Maintains knowledge of and is accountable for assuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements of assigned cost centers. Assists leadership with preparation for The Joint Commission survey and is held accountable for compliance with The Joint Commission standards for designated operating units. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Computer skills are highly desirable, especially in the application of word processing, spreadsheet, and database creation and management.
