This role involves advanced responsibilities in medication management, patient support, and pharmacy operations. The Pharmacy Technician II ensures the safe and effective preparation and distribution of medications, adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, and provides valuable support in specialized areas of pharmacy practice.Requirements:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES
The responsibilities and duties described in this job description are intended to provide a general overview of the position. Duties may vary depending on the specific needs of the affiliate or location you are working at and/or state requirements. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, and Staff Pharmacist including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions. Accurately prepare and dispense medications, including compounded medications and specialty drugs, following prescriptions and established protocols. Provide advanced technical support in specialized areas such as oncology, sterile compounding, or pediatric pharmacy. Assist in the preparation of intravenous (IV) admixtures, chemotherapy, and other specialized medications following aseptic techniques. Perform medication reconciliation and assist with medication therapy management (MTM) services under the guidance of a pharmacist. Assist in patient education on medication use, including proper administration, potential side effects, and storage. Address patient inquiries and concerns, referring complex cases to the pharmacist as needed. Participate in quality assurance activities, such as monitoring for medication errors and implementing corrective actions. Assist in training new pharmacy technicians and interns. Complete all assigned charging and crediting functions, including from miscellaneous sources. Stock medications to their appropriate locations, rotate stock as necessary and check outdates, and assist in maintaining adequate stock levels. Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all pharmacy activities, including medication preparation and dispensing records. Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with advancements in pharmacy practice and technology. Reports, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adheres to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program. Work closely with pharmacists, other healthcare professionals, and pharmacy staff to ensure optimal patient care and efficient pharmacy operations. Support the provision of medication adherence programs and other patient support initiatives. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as pharmacy policies and procedures. Performs other position related duties as assigned. Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required. Licensure and certifications as required by State.KNOWLEDGE

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of Pharmacy Tech program required.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician required. Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician II and/or specialized experience preferred. Prior completion of department IV training and competency.REQUIRED TRAVEL N/A PHYSICAL DEMANDS
