Manage patient adherence processes and schedule medication deliveries in line with internal pharmacy guidelines. Support patients with treatment compliance by entering and updating current medications, allergies, and medical conditions in the system. Triage patient calls to nursing staff and pharmacists when clinical input is required. Use internal systems and web-based tools to communicate with health insurance payors and providers to investigate benefits and verify prescription coverage through test claims when applicable. Identify and recommend process and system improvements that increase efficiency and productivity across pharmacy operations. Communicate professionally and efficiently with internal and external teams to ensure accurate and timely provision of services to patients. Collaborate with all necessary personnel to determine objectives and support changing business priorities across patients, products, and services. Handle inbound and outbound calls, prioritize workload, and complete case updates and documentation with accuracy and timeliness. Organize and perform testing and other operational tasks as business needs evolve, as designated by leadership. Maintain an active Illinois Certified Pharmacy Technician license and complete continuing education requirements as required. Demonstrate flexibility and cross-functional support by understanding how pharmacy processing and fulfillment workflows connect and assisting where needed. Meet performance expectations in a call-heavy environment, handling a high volume of calls per day while maintaining quality, professionalism, and efficiency. Participate in a supportive, team-oriented culture by assisting colleagues, sharing knowledge, and volunteering to learn new tasks. Consistently demonstrate strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and high-quality decision-making in all aspects of pharmacy operations. Essential Skills Active Certified Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Illinois, maintained in good standing. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Specialty Pharmacy, Retail or Mail Order Pharmacy, Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM), or healthcare provider setting. Experience with prescription data entry and order processing in a pharmacy environment. Strong understanding of medical record handling and documentation practices. High-quality customer service skills and effective inter-professional communication with healthcare providers and internal teams. Strong core knowledge of medical and pharmacy benefits and familiarity with online verification systems or similar tools. Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, call-center-style environment, including handling approximately 30-40 calls per day with defined handle and after-call work times. Strong attention to detail and the ability to make high-quality decisions while operating under general direction. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and oral form. Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, complete individual tasks, collaborate cross-functionally, and meet deadlines. Strong computer skills, including accurate data entry and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel or similar applications. Comfort working between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. with a flexible schedule as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a specialty pharmacy or prior work in a call-center-style pharmacy environment is highly beneficial. Any pharmacy setting experience (retail, mail order, PBM, or provider-based) is considered relevant as long as core responsibilities align. Experience with high-volume phone work, including efficient wrap-up and quick transition between calls. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new tasks, processes, and systems in a dynamic environment. Proven track record of going above and beyond in previous roles, such as volunteering for overtime or taking on additional responsibilities. Comfort working within cross-functional teams where resources flex across pharmacy processing and fulfillment functions. Ability to adapt to changing business priorities and support various operational tasks as needed. Strong professionalism in both virtual and in-person interactions, including with patients, providers, and colleagues.
