Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Pharmacy Technician Job Type Contract To Hire Support the efficient operation of an outpatient pharmacy by accurately processing medication orders and assisting pharmacists in delivering patient-centered care. This role offers an opportunity to work a consistent day shift while contributing to a healthcare environment by ensuring the safe preparation and dispensing of pharmaceuticals.

Hire Key Responsibilities:
Process medication orders or prescriptions accurately, packaging and dispensing pre-manufactured dosage forms appropriately. Operate within the Pioneer RX computer system to manage storage, preparation, and dispensing of medicinal agents, adhering to health system policies related to cart fill, unit dose distribution, medication labeling, controlled substances reconciliation, and pharmaceutical purchasing. Assist pharmacists in preparing educational materials for patients, physicians, and nursing staff. Support pharmacists in retrieving timely and relevant drug information. Collect patient data to aid pharmacists in designing, monitoring, and modifying pharmacotherapy plans, including screening for IV to oral conversion, renal dosing adjustments, allergies, and non-formulary prescriptions. Obtain clinical pharmacokinetic data to help pharmacists create safe and effective medication regimens, such as calculating creatinine clearance when necessary.
Qualifications:
Minimum one year of pharmacy technician experience. Experience in a hospital outpatient pharmacy setting. Familiarity with pharmacy insurance claims processing. Valid Illinois pharmacy technician license. This position is ideal for a skilled pharmacy technician ready to transition from contract to direct hire while maintaining a predictable weekday schedule in a professional outpatient pharmacy environment.
