Job Title:
Phlebotomist I Job Description This Phlebotomist I position supports a busy family clinic near Tunica, MS by performing high-volume, accurate, and timely blood and specimen collection. You will interact directly with patients of all ages, provide calm and professional support during venipuncture and other collections, and ensure all specimens are processed, documented, and transported according to established procedures and regulatory standards. The role combines hands-on phlebotomy, specimen processing, customer service, and basic administrative duties in a patient-focused clinical environment. Job Details Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy and venipuncture, including high-volume blood drawing (approximately 30-50 sticks per day). Ability to perform blood draws using standard and butterfly techniques for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Strong specimen collection and processing skills, including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, freezing, and preparing specimens for transport. Ability to accurately collect and handle urine, fecal, and other specimen types in accordance with established procedures. High attention to detail and accuracy when completing requisitions, matching specimens to orders, and entering data. Proficiency in electronic data entry, including entering patient, specimen, insurance, and billing information into computer systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience in a clinic, family practice, or similar healthcare setting is beneficial. Experience performing phlebotomy and specimen collection with pediatric and geriatric populations. Familiarity with insurance and billing information requirements, including diagnosis codes and related data. Comfort with basic clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, and preparing mail. Ability to assist with compiling monthly statistics and data for reporting purposes. Experience working in a Patient Service Center (PSC) or In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP) environment is an advantage. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and protecting sensitive health and company information. Strong teamwork orientation and willingness to contribute to a positive, cooperative work environment. Work Environment This role is based in a clinic setting near Tunica, MS serving a diverse patient population in a family clinic environment. The schedule includes full days on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and a half day on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The position involves a high volume of daily blood draws and specimen collections, requiring consistent use of laboratory equipment such as needles, butterfly sets, collection tubes, centrifuges, and computer systems for data entry and order management. The clinic environment is fast-paced, with fluctuating patient flow, and emphasizes maintaining a neat, clean, and well-maintained facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tunica, MS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
