Job Description

Job Summary:
- Perform phlebotomy procedures to obtain specimens for laboratory testing.
Reports to:
Lead Phlebotomist, Lab Manager and Laboratory Director.- What You Will Do in This Role
- + •You will greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.
- + •You will draw blood specimens from patients by using finger sticks, heel sticks or venipunctures and collect other specimens as required.
- + •You will label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer.
- + •You will prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments•+ •You will assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.
Licensure/certification/registration:
- + •HR diploma or GED required•+ •Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience required or Certification through a clinical phlebotomy program may be considered in lieu of experience•+ •Acute care hospital experience is•strongly•preferred•+ •Skilled phlebotomy technique; BLS within 30 days of hire•Benefits•Medical City Plano, offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
