Immediately Job Description We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Physical Education Teacher to design and deliver a comprehensive physical education and health program for our students. This role focuses on promoting physical fitness, social development, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle habits in a supportive, therapeutic educational environment. The Physical Education Teacher works collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff to support student growth and success both in and out of the classroom.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement a physical education and health curriculum aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks/Common Core Standards, promoting physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Teach and oversee individual and team sports, adapting instruction to meet students' abilities, learning styles, strengths, and needs.
  • Coordinate and support the school's athletics program, including scheduling games and overseeing coaching staff as applicable.
  • Assess student performance, set individualized goals and objectives, and monitor and evaluate progress.
  • Participate in the IEP process and complete all required documentation, including assessments, progress reports, report cards, year-end reports, and IEP goals and objectives, accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with students, families, counselors, and interdisciplinary team members (including nursing, food services, occupational therapy, and others) to support student success and promote healthy lifestyles.
  • Serve as a positive professional role model, maintaining appropriate boundaries and providing consistent, constructive structure.
  • Provide therapeutic support to clients
  • Participate in required meetings, trainings, orientations, and supervision sessions.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and engaging physical education environment; manage equipment inventory, ordering, and storage.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of facilities and represent the organization in a positive, professional manner.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • MA PE Teaching License Required
  • Experience working in school setting preferred
