Job Description
The staff physical therapist (PT) is a licensed professional who evaluates and treats individuals of all ages, who have medical problems or other health-related conditions, illnesses, or injuries that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities. The physical therapist examines each individual, develops a Plan of Care (POC), uses treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, prevent disability/ loss of mobility, and adjusts the therapy techniques as needed. The staff physical therapist (PT) is also responsible for consulting with the patient/responsible person, the patient's medical provider and other agency personnel regarding the POC. The therapist will provide services primarily in the outpatient setting, however, will be cross trained to treat in the acute care setting as well. The therapy services are provided in accordance with state and referral regulations and as defined by the physical therapy standards of practice. The physical therapist performs all duties in a professional and ethical manner, collaborating with the other members of the health care team, ensuring quality patient care. Physical Therapist - PT Responsibilities & Duties Reviews Physician's referral, patient's medical records, patient's condition, and patient's goals to determine physical therapy treatment required. Tests and measures patient's range of motion, strength, motor development, neurological status, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency, and records findings to develop or revise treatment programs. Reviews other diagnostic testing i.e. lab and radiology to help develop or revise treatment programs. Provides written evaluation and treatment plan for that specific patient. Provides a written Plan of Care to be signed by the provider. Updates Plan of Care as needed. Updated POC with new re-certification period to be signed by provider. Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit. Administers therapeutic exercises to improve and maintain function. Instructs, motivates, and assists patient to perform various physical activities. The physical therapist will provide assistive/supportive devices such as walkers, crutches, canes, and orthotics, as they deem necessary. Administers treatments involving application of physical agents. Administers manual therapy techniques. Administers manual or mechanical traction to relieve symptoms Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home. Provides patient and family education on pertinent issues Evaluates, fits, and adjusts prosthetic and orthotic devices. Physical Therapist - PT Benefits Matching 403B Health Insurance Dental Vision Paid Time Off up to 24 days per year Clinic Pay (paid time during clinic visits) Physical Therapist - PT Qualifications & Skills The therapist must be a graduate of an approved physical therapy program at either a baccalaureate level or higher depending on the year of graduation, possess a current license as a physical therapist in good standing in the state of Idaho. New graduates are eligible; however experience is preferred.
