Period of Performance:
29 weeks throughout the school year
Service Delivery:
Onsite or virtual/digital, as determined by the student's IEP team
Number of Positions:
One (1) Physical Therapist Position Summary The Physical Therapist will provide special education-related physical therapy services to eligible students under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The therapist will be responsible for evaluating students, developing recommendations, supporting IEP goals, providing direct therapy services, consulting with school staff and families, and maintaining required documentation for student progress and compliance. The current student service population identified in the SOW is four (4) students. Key Responsibilities The Physical Therapist shall: Provide physical therapy services to students referred for evaluation during the contract period. Attend initial placement meetings, IEP meetings, and multidisciplinary team meetings when required. Assess students' physical abilities, including gross motor development, range of motion, gait training, positioning skills, and related functional needs. Develop recommendations based on student evaluations and physical therapy assessments. Provide direct instruction and therapy to students to support remediation of physical deficits. Consult with special education teachers, classroom teachers, parents, school personnel, and outside professionals. Support carryover of therapy strategies into the classroom and home environment when necessary. Prepare and maintain documentation, including evaluations, observations, progress notes, parent/teacher contacts, and professional recommendations. Present information related to physical therapy treatment issues, student needs, and professional best practices. Research appropriate intervention methods, treatment techniques, assessment tools, and community resources. Screen students in accordance with applicable laws and minority non-discriminatory practices. Coordinate services with the school and adjust services after mandated compensatory minutes are satisfied. Required Qualifications The Physical Therapist must meet or exceed the following minimum requirements:
Education:
Master's degree in Physical Therapy.
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of directly related professional experience; experience working with Native American students is preferred.
Certification:
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Physical Therapist.
License:
Active state license in the state where services will be provided. Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, families, students, and multidisciplinary teams. Ability to maintain accurate student files and special education documentation. Professional Expectations The Physical Therapist must demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, compliance with IDEA requirements, and the ability to support student-centered therapy services. Any replacement of key personnel must be coordinated with and approved by the school prior to substitution.
Pay:
$48.09 - $57.92 per hour
