Functions Area of Responsibilities Evaluates patients and develops appropriate treatment plans to include time defined therapy goals, in accordance with physician established plan of care. Delegates treatment implementation appropriately, based on the type of treatment prescribed and level of training of support personnel. Instructs nursing and other staff in follow through activities as indicated. Completes discharge summaries in a timely manner, in accordance with current policy. Maintains patient records to include all required documentation, legibly written and completed within assigned time frames. Supervises physical therapy assistants, therapy aids, and student interns in accordance with established guidelines. Implements physical therapy treatment programs in accordance with established standards. Consults with other departments to improve quality and efficiency of patient care. Develops home programs and discharge plans with input from patients and families. Maintains confidentiality. Practices good communication skills with patient and family members. Recognizes potential problems or request of patients and/or family and reacts appropriately. Performs clerical duties as assigned. Participates in in-service educational programs. Assists other staff members in patient care activities. Demonstrates dependability on the job. Reports to work on time. Notifies supervisor of unscheduled absences as soon as possible. Organizes work schedule effectively. Complies with standards set forth by TJC and other regulating agencies. Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities as requested. Performs other activities as assigned. Demonstrates competency in patient care according to the age of the patient and population served. a. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient's needs. b. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development. c. Demonstrates understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients (age and diagnosis). Coordinates physical therapy treatment with other hospital personnel as appropriate. Compliance Statement Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program.
