Job Description
Pediatric Therapies, Inc. is accepting applicants for an in-person PT for the upcoming school year 2026-2027 (4 days per week option or full-time) in the Prince George/Farmville, VA area. We offer paid drive time assistance for therapists who are outside of the area. We are a local to Chesterfield, VA contract company providing SLP, OT, PT and school psychology services to 15 school districts in VA. We provide services to districts spanning from Chesterfield, VA to the North Carolina border. Therapists on our team note the positive difference in working for a local company versus a large, national contract company. If you are new to school-based practice, you will have the support of working alongside an in-person, experienced therapist within the district. You will be fully oriented and supported by current team members. You will work alongside an interdisciplinary team comprised of OTs, PTs, SLPs, and school psychologists. Assessesfunction in underlying performance components including: neuromuscular status, sensation, sensorimotor, in-hand manipulation skills, and mental functions/process. Synthesizes evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment; directs program development; and guides evidence-based intervention. Develops occupationally based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual education plans and intervention plans to achieve IEP goals. Service Delivery Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environment. Consults with the school-based team to achieve student outcomes. Adapts and modifies the environment including assistive technology and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible. Educates student, educational personnel, and family to facilitate skills in areas of occupation as well as safety and health maintenance. Collect and summarize ongoing data for reporting students' progress.
Prepare quarterly and interim progress reports on OT-supported IEP goals.
Provide occupational therapy treatment updates to instructional staff and clinicians informally or formally through team meetings in order to ensure effectiveness of a student's therapeutic programs.
Provide feedback to instructors implementing therapeutic programs Document occupational therapy service to ensure accountability of service provision and to meet standards for reimbursement of services. Professional Development Maintain commitment to professional growth and competency through attending seminars, workshops and conferences. Essential Duties:
The Occupational Therapist (OT) will lead the process in development, implementation, and coordination of the occupational therapy program. Screening, consultation, evaluation, educational program and transition planning, therapeutic intervention, and exit planning is provided for students identified with or suspected of having disabilities that interfere with their ability to perform daily life activities or participate in necessary or desired occupations. Professional judgment and clinical knowledge are used to develop individualized programming based on occupational performance deficits in the areas of personal care, student role, interaction skills, process skills, play, community integration/work, and graphic communication. A strong emphasis is placed on IDEA guidelines and appropriate educational therapy is provided for optimal function within the student's least restrictive environment. Occupational therapist regularly collaborates with other disciplines and services at departmental and system levels. Staff and parent consult and training are provided as needed. Occupational therapist is expected to independently review outcomes and modify intervention programs. The OT is expected to take an active role in ensuring all occupational therapy services are delivered in accordance to each student's IEP-mandated services and utilizing current evidence-based and ethical practices. Clinical reasoning and professional judgment are essential to ensuring the safety of students and protecting liability of the school system and the therapist.Specific Responsibilities:
