Job Description
Church Piano Player Job DescriptionCountry Church Worship Ministry Position Title Piano Player / Worship Team Musician Reports To Noah Jackson — Worship Pastor Position Summary The Piano Player serves as a vital part of the worship ministry by using musical gifts to help lead the congregation into sincere, Christ-centered worship. This role supports the worship pastor, worship team, choir, and congregation through musical excellence, spiritual maturity, humility, and faithfulness. The individual serving in this role should understand that worship ministry is not a performance, but a calling to glorify God and lead others into His presence through music. "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." — 1 Corinthians 10:31 Primary Responsibilities Play piano during Sunday worship services, special services, revivals, and church events as scheduled. Support congregational singing and assist in creating an atmosphere of worship that honors Christ. Work closely with the worship pastor and worship team during rehearsals and services. Learn and practice music ahead of scheduled services. Follow musical arrangements, transitions, and direction given by worship leadership. Assist with key changes, spontaneous worship moments, altar calls, invitations, and prayer times as needed. Maintain a servant-hearted attitude both on and off the platform. Arrive prepared, punctual, and spiritually ready for rehearsals and services. Help maintain unity, encouragement, and excellence within the worship ministry. Must be able and willing to play with click tracks, backing tracks, and in-ear monitor (IEM) systems when used during worship services. Spiritual & Ministry Requirements Applicants should: Profess faith in Jesus Christ and demonstrate a growing relationship with Him. Regularly attend church services and actively support the ministry of the church. Display Christ-like character, humility, and integrity in daily life. Be willing to serve faithfully with a heart for ministry rather than personal recognition. Maintain a consistent prayer life and personal Bible study. Be teachable and willing to receive leadership, correction, and guidance. Support the vision, doctrine, and leadership of the church. Demonstrate unity and respect toward pastors, leaders, fellow musicians, and congregation members. "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" — Psalm 133:1 Musical Requirements Applicants should: Have the ability to play piano confidently during live worship settings. Be able to follow chord charts, arrangements, and transitions. Demonstrate strong rhythm, timing, and musical sensitivity. Be willing to rehearse regularly and prepare music before services. Adapt musically during spontaneous moments in worship or ministry. Work well with singers, musicians, choir members, and worship leadership. Be comfortable using in-ear monitor (IEM) systems and performing with click and track playback. Remain consistent and synchronized with worship arrangements, transitions, and track timing. Preferably have experience playing gospel, hymns, contemporary worship, or country church style worship music. "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men." — Colossians 3:23 Worship Team Code of ConductHeart and Attitude of Worship We serve to bring glory to God, not to ourselves. Worship is not about recognition, attention, or financial gain, but about obedience and faithfulness to the calling God has placed on our lives. Team members are expected to walk in humility, unity, and a teachable spirit. Conflicts, pride, gossip, or division have no place on the worship team. Spiritual Preparation Team members are encouraged to maintain a growing personal relationship with Christ through prayer, Scripture, and regular church attendance. Come to rehearsals and services prayed up and spiritually prepared. If something in life is hindering your spirit or testimony, communicate with leadership so support and prayer can be offered. Musical Preparation & Rehearsal All music must be practiced and prepared before Sunday morning. Team members are expected to learn their parts, including chord changes, lyrics, arrangements, and transitions. Rehearsals are for unity and refinement—not for learning songs from scratch. Arrive on time and ready to play. If unable to attend rehearsal or service, notify leadership as early as possible. Dress Code & Appearance Dress should be modest, respectful, and appropriate for leading others in worship. Clothing should not be distracting, revealing, or draw attention away from God. Avoid clothing with offensive language, graphics, or messaging that does not align with Christian values. When asked to follow a specific dress theme or color scheme, team members are expected to comply.
Remember:
we want people to see Jesus, not us. Conduct & Behavior Treat pastors, leaders, fellow team members, and congregation with respect and kindness. Maintain a Christ-like attitude in speech, actions, and online presence. Be dependable, accountable, and willing to serve wherever needed. Substance use, inappropriate relationships, or behavior that damages testimony may result in removal from the team. Commitment & Accountability Being on the worship team is a ministry commitment, not just a musical role. Faithfulness and consistency are expected. Leadership reserves the right to address concerns, provide correction, or step someone down if needed—for restoration, growth, and the health of the ministry. Unity & Submission Team members are expected to follow the direction of the worship pastor and pastoral authority. Differences of opinion should be handled privately and respectfully. Unity on the platform reflects unity in the Spirit. Final Commitment Serving on the worship team is a privilege and a calling. By serving in this ministry, each member commits to worshipping with excellence, humility, and a heart fully devoted to glorifying God. We worship not for applause, attention, or compensation, but because He alone is worthy. "O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker." — Psalm 95:6Pay:
