(PLANNING & INSPECTIONS) Planning Technician

Sampson County is seeking a customer-focused team player to provide a combination of technical, administrative, and zoning-related services to support our planning and zoning functions. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills combined with organization, attention to detail, recordkeeping, computer proficiency and the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment are essential for consideration of this key position. Work involves a mix of office and field duties in providing guidance on land use for all stakeholders and maintaining accurate documentation on ordinances and code enforcement. Viable applicants will have a bachelor's or associate degree in Planning, Geography, Environmental Studies, Public Administration or a related field and at least one year of direct experience in zoning, planning, or permitting. Additional Requirements include a valid NC Driver's License and North Carolina Certified Zoning Official (CZO) within two years of hire.
