  • Full-time Position Summary The Plant Operations Leader is accountable for the overall performance of a manufacturing facility, ensuring production is carried out safely, efficiently, and in a cost-conscious manner.
This role provides direction to teams across production, maintenance, quality, and continuous improvement, while reinforcing a strong safety-first mindset and a focus on operational performance. The position also ensures adherence to all regulatory requirements and supports alignment between plant execution and broader organizational goals. Core Responsibilities Operational Leadership Direct day-to-day manufacturing activities across production, maintenance, quality, and safety functions. Drive initiatives that improve throughput, efficiency, and cost performance. Establish performance indicators and track progress against operational targets. Safety & Regulatory Compliance Promote and sustain a proactive safety culture throughout the facility. Ensure adherence to OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and applicable industry requirements. Lead audits and inspections to maintain full regulatory compliance and identify improvement opportunities. Quality Management Oversee processes to ensure products consistently meet customer and internal quality expectations. Guide the quality team in identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive measures. Process Improvement Champion continuous improvement efforts, including Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Evaluate operational data to uncover inefficiencies and implement solutions that enhance productivity and reduce waste. Team Development & Leadership Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team across all plant functions. Encourage cross-functional collaboration and a positive, team-oriented work environment. Conduct performance evaluations and support ongoing employee development and training initiatives. Financial Oversight Prepare and manage the facility's operating budget, including labor, maintenance, and capital investments. Monitor financial performance and ensure resources are utilized effectively to meet business objectives. Strategic Alignment Partner with senior leadership to support long-term planning and execution of business strategies. Ensure plant operations are aligned with organizational priorities, growth plans, and customer demand. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or a related discipline. Extensive manufacturing leadership experience (10+ years), ideally within metals or heavy industrial environments, including exposure to fabrication, machining, welding, finishing, and distribution processes. Demonstrated ability to lead complex operations and drive measurable performance improvements. Strong understanding of safety standards, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing best practices. Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement frameworks. Effective leadership, analytical, and decision-making capabilities. Familiarity with ERP systems and production management tools. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels of the organization. Work Environment This role operates primarily within a manufacturing setting with typical industrial conditions such as noise, heat, and equipment exposure. Occasional travel may be required. The position is based in Southeast Alabama, and relocation to the area is expected.
