Job Summary The Plant Manager provides leadership to supervisory staff and ensures that all packing house operations are conducted in a safe, efficient, and productive manner. This role requires close oversight of fruit handling processes and effective coordination across multiple departments to achieve production and shipping goals. The Plant Manager may be temporarily or permanently assigned to another plant as operational needs require. Key Areas of Responsibility- Monitor and manage daily aspects of lemon processing, including receiving, treatment, washing, grading, sizing, and storage.
- Ensure accurate fruit segregation and tracking by grower, pool, and district.
- Oversee timely order fulfillment in accordance with customer specifications and market requirements.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Department to address equipment issues and maintain safe operations.
- Collaborate on large-scale projects and continuous process improvements.
- Prepare and submit accurate daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
- Enforce compliance with all company programs and policies, including safety, food safety, and the Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
- Support employee relations initiatives to maintain a positive, professional, and safe workplace.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proven leadership, supervisory, and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Demonstrated ability to manage staff performance and foster a positive work environment.
- In-depth knowledge of packing house operations, including fruit handling, processing, storage, and shipping.
- Ability to interpret production and financial reports; working knowledge of basic accounting and labor cost analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to plan staffing levels and manage costs.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license. General Physical Activities Reasonable accommodation will be made to enable individuals with known disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Requires frequent physical activity including climbing (stairs), lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, standing, and handling materials.
- Lifting requirement: up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
