Dugway Proving Ground Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the shop Manager, the employee will make repairs on all plumbing systems by following plumbing codes and industry standards. Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations. Employee will Inspect job sites to ensure necessary repairs are made to avoid structural damage to facilities, and all safety requirements needed. The employee will research the required materials needed and complete purchase requisition forms as necessary for repairs. The employee will read and interpret blueprints and drawings to locate all isolation valves, cross contamination devices, pipelines, hydrants, and utility lines. The employee will be familiar with all materials and usages for the installation and repair of residential and commercial water systems, sewer systems, propane systems, and fire suppression systems. The employee will have a working knowledge and be capable of safely using all the hand and power tools required while working on all plumbing systems. The employee will be able to make installations and repairs using compression fittings, maintenance clamps, welding, brazing, gluing, and fusing all different types of pipe and fittings. The employees will operate and use drain snakes, rodding devices, sewer cameras, and other equipment for the restoration of plugged systems. The employee will install and maintain residential and commercial tubs, showers, sinks, faucets, toilets, garbage disposals, dishwashers, washers, water heaters, and water softeners. The employee will work on grease traps, oil water separators, regulators, fire hydrants, and other commercial devices. The employee will complete flow tests, PM inspections, and certifications on cross contamination devices, regulators, and fire hydrants. The employee will serve on an on-call rotation and be capable of making emergency isolation and repair of all plumbing systems. Qualifications Completion of basic and advanced plumbing course and/or three (3) years' experience in installation, repair, servicing of plumbing systems at journeyman level.Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Licenses & Certifications required: Journeyman Level certification is preferred. Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester certification. If not currently certified, the candidate will be required to obtain the certification within 180 days of employment.Purpose of Classification:
Service, repair, and maintaining of all plumbing systems in accordance with the Dugway Proving Ground PWS.Duties & Responsibilities:
- Accomplish work in compliance with government regulations and all building and plumbing codes
- Identify materials requirement listing for work in government acceptable format
- Assist in maintaining shop inventory
- Maintain required readings, records, and documentation
- Research and identify material
- Operate general and special purpose vehicles
- Operate equipment, machinery, and test equipment related to plumbing work
- Accomplish work as identified from blueprints, drawings, models, schematics, or verbal instructions, using a variety of measuring instruments, making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work
- Perform safe work practices and procedures, and adhere to occupational health standards
- Perform related duties as required Special Knowledge /
Skills Required:
- Must be able to meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain the required government security clearance
- Proficient in the use of all types of plumbing tools, power tools, gauges, equipment, and vehicles.
- Knowledgeable in national, government and state plumbing standards and codes
- Must possess a valid State Driver's License
