Police Captain

Police Captain The City of Chester is seeking an experienced, visionary, and results-driven Police Captain to join the Chester Police Department leadership team. This position plays a critical role in helping lead the department through a transformative period of growth, including recent annexations, downtown revitalization efforts, and expanding public safety needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, operational expertise, and a commitment to community-focused policing. Minimum Qualifications Valid South Carolina Class One Law Enforcement Certification Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience At least 3 years of command-level or administrative supervisory experience Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or related field preferred Preferred Qualifications Advanced leadership training such as: FBI National Academy Southern Police Institute Strong background in policy development, budgeting, personnel management, and community policing initiatives Key Responsibilities Assist with departmental operations and strategic planning Supervise and mentor personnel Support recruitment and retention initiatives Ensure compliance with departmental standards and applicable laws Promote positive community engagement and organizational accountability Assist with budget oversight and resource management Working Conditions Work is performed both in-office and in the field Must be available to respond to emergencies and incidents outside normal business hours Application Process Interested applicants must complete an application online at: City of Chester Employment Opportunities Applications may also be submitted to: City of Chester -
