POLICE CHIEF

The purpose of this position is to plan, direct, and review law enforcement activities, as well as protect lives and property and enforce laws and ordinances. This is achieved through modern police leadership skills such as fostering transparency, prioritizing 21st-century policing strategies, leveraging data-driven decision-making, championing de-escalation tactics, and promoting officer wellness. A key focus of this role is leading proactive community and public relations efforts to build mutual trust and establish collaborative partnerships. Other responsibilities include overseeing the development of policies and procedures, succession planning, and managing the budget.

Experience-Related Requirements:

Requires over seven to 10 years of management and/or supervisor experience.

Vocational/Education Preparation:

Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE); requires a Bachelor's degree or education and training equivalent to four years of college education in business, public administration, or liberal arts. Master's degree preferred.
