OFFICERS

(Lateral Transfers Welcome) As a Janesville Police Officer, you will patrol and protect our community, respond to emergencies, investigate crimes, enforce laws and ordinances, and build positive relationships with the public. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

At least 18 years old U.S. citizen with no felony convictions Valid driver's license High school diploma/GED plus 40 college credits (60 credits required for lateral candidates) Must meet Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards and Training Board requirements Successful completion of written, psychological, medical, and background examinations

IDEAL CANDIDATES

Individuals who demonstrate strong communication skills, sound judgment, integrity, professionalism, and the ability to remain composed under pressure. A commitment to community service and ethical policing is essential.

TESTING DATES

Qualified applicants must attend one of JPD's Written Exam and Wisconsin Physical Readiness Testing opportunities on April 11, 2026; or July 25, 2026. Lateral candidates are encouraged to contact Sgt. Benjamin Thompson at thompsonb@ci.janesville.wi.us to schedule a testing opportunity.
