Role Summary The Post-Harvest Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and continuously improving all post-harvest activities for a state-regulated cannabis greenhouse facility. This role oversees drying, takedown, trimming, sorting, packaging, quality control, and compliance-aligned record-keeping, while ensuring tight cross-departmental coordination and loss prevention. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Post-Harvest Program Management Maintain a comprehensive post-harvest strategy aligned with production and sales schedules Continuously evaluate post-harvest performance and adjust workflows to optimize yields, quality, labor costs and compliance. Establish, update and enforce SOPs across all post-harvest stages Drying, Curing & Quality Control Maintain environmental parameters to protect potency, terpene retention, and appearance Monitor moisture content, degradation risk, and rework thresholds Ensure finished product meets internal and regulatory quality standards Labor, Equipment & Workflow Oversight Schedule and supervise post-harvest labor and third-party teams Monitor productivity, throughput, and efficiency metrics Ensure post-harvest equipment is clean and sanitized, maintained, staged, and operational Enforce GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), sanitation standards, and contamination-prevention protocols throughout all post-harvest areas Verify sanitation execution and maintain cleaning logs for rooms, tools, bins, carts, racks, and processing equipment Ensure proper segregation of clean vs. dirty workflows and prevent cross-contamination between harvest batches Train and coach post-harvest staff on SOPs, quality expectations, sanitation practices, compliance procedures, and workflow execution Conduct performance feedback, accountability conversations, and skill-development initiatives Support preventative maintenance scheduling and operational readiness checks for post-harvest equipment and environmental systems Escalate equipment deficiencies, calibration concerns, or airflow/environmental issues impacting quality or throughput Support cross-training to improve operational flexibility and labor efficiency Packaging & Finished Goods Management Oversee packaging workflows to ensure product presentation, labeling accuracy, and compliance with state packaging requirements Monitor packaged product quality, moisture stability, and shelf-readiness standards Coordinate finished goods staging and transfer readiness with inventory and sales team Cross-Department Communication Coordinate daily activities with cultivation, inventory, compliance, and sales teams Reporting & Compliance Deliver daily and weekly reporting on yields, losses, and throughput Maintain traceability from harvest through packaged finished goods Performance Accountability Harvest-to-finished yield retention Track and report department performance against established production targets and quality standards Qualifications and Experience 5+ years experience managing post-harvest cannabis or regulated greenhouse production Strong understanding of cannabis drying, curing, and processing standards Proven leadership and KPI-driven management experience Experience with METRC and cannabis inventory reconciliation processes strongly preferred Experience with ERP, inventory, production tracking, or workflow management systems preferred Familiarity with moisture analyzers, environmental monitoring systems, and post-harvest processing equipment preferred Post-harvest loss and waste trends Labor efficiency metrics Throughput cycle time Audit and inspection outcomes Finished product quality consistency Analyze post-harvest operational KPIs and identify trends impacting yield, labor efficiency, throughput, quality, or compliance Develop corrective action plans and continuous improvement initiatives based on operational data Maintain audit-ready documentation for inspections Ensure compliance with state cannabis regulations Ensure accurate harvest batch tracking, chain-of-custody documentation, and inventory reconciliation within METRC and internal inventory systems Verify waste recording, destruction documentation, and product movement accuracy Support internal audits and discrepancy investigations related to inventory, yield tracking, and compliance reporting Manage harvest handoffs and room readiness Prevent workflow conflicts and compliance breakdowns Coordinate harvest scheduling, room turnover timing, labor allocation, and drying capacity planning with Cultivation leadership Ensure post-harvest staging areas, equipment, bins, and labor resources are prepared ahead of harvest execution Communicate operational constraints and bottlenecks proactively to leadership
