Immediately Job Description Post-Secondary Teacher for Students with Autism Shore Educational Collaborative was established in 1975 as one of 24 educational collaboratives in Massachusetts, providing public special education to students with disabilities. Over 200 students, aged 3-22, attend our school in Chelsea, receiving a comprehensive education and related services. Role and Responsibilities Shore Educational Collaborative is hiring a Special Education Transition Teacher to support post-secondary students and young adults with Autism and/or other developmental disabilities in our transition and life skills programming. This role focuses on preparing students ages 18-22 for success in adult life through instruction in vocational readiness, independent living, community engagement, social communication, and self-advocacy skills. Responsibilities include: Provide individualized and small-group instruction aligned with each student's Transition Plan and IEP goals, focusing on post-secondary readiness, employment, independent living, and community participation. Develop and implement functional academic, vocational, and life skills curricula tailored to the strengths, interests, and support needs of transition-aged students. Support students in developing executive functioning, communication, self-determination, and interpersonal skills necessary for adult success. Utilize positive reinforcement, structured teaching strategies, and behavior supports to foster independence, emotional regulation, and social growth. Collaborate closely with related service providers, job coaches, families, adult service agencies, and community partners to support student outcomes and continuity of care. Facilitate community-based learning experiences, vocational training opportunities, travel training, and internships where appropriate. Maintain regular communication with families and caregivers regarding student progress, goals, and transition planning. Develop and implement Individual Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) where necessary. Support students in accessing and navigating adult services, college readiness opportunities, and employment pathways.Qualifications:
A flexible, collaborative, and innovative mindset around education is essential to success in this position. Current DESE licensure in Moderate Disabilities or Severe Disabilities preferred. Experience working with transition-aged students with Autism and knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis, transition planning, vocational instruction, or community-based programming preferred. Candidates who are close to licensure, eligible for licensure, or who hold a different DESE license and are willing to pursue the appropriate licensure will be considered. Salary range: $63,696.50 to $123,531, commensurate with experience and education. View our salary schedule here. This position may include participation in a mandatory annual summer program.
