Number of Vacancies 7 Location Rio Grande Valley, Texas Department Office of Research FTE 1.0 FLSA Exempt Scope of Job Trainee position to pursue research as a vital component of their educational mission and professional career development. Works under minimal supervision with some latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment in research and/or teaching. Performs research work as required within the lab and/or project assigned. Description of Duties The following is a listing of typical duties that may be applicable to the position: Developing, testing, and analyzing research projects based on application expertise and interest; Aiding in the development of a survey instrument, testing the instrument and disseminating the instrument; Writing narrative summaries of the research results, and related tasks under the supervision of the faculty member assigned; Conducting background research; Developing and implementing an evaluation plan and preparing progress reports as needed; Studying, testing, and maintaining accurate data identified as relevant and/or best practice systems from research results obtained through national studies; Designing and implementing training activities as required; Supports faculty supervisor in the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals; Publishing in peer-reviewed publications related to the focus of the research activities assigned; and performing other job-related duties as assigned. Equipment Use of personal computer and proficiency in software and research statistical applications. Working Conditions Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office/research environment; some travel and weekend work is required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
