FullTime Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Postdoctoral Fellow Laboratory of Neurological Infections and Immunity Neuroimmunology Section A postdoctoral fellowship position is available in the Neuroimmunology Section of the Laboratory of Neurological Infections and Immunity in the Division of Intramural Research (DIR), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, located at Rocky Mountain Laboratories (RML) in Hamilton, MT. Our section studies mechanisms of pathogenesis in the central nervous system, with a focus on the interactions between the immune and nervous systems that regulate neuronal damage. We use cell culture, human cerebral organoid and animal models to investigate neuroinvasion, innate and adaptive immune responses and neuronal damage caused by encephalitic arboviruses. We also utilize induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) from patients with autoinflammatory diseases or with targeted deletions in key innate immune genes to study the role of innate immune responses in neurodevelopment and neuronal function. RML has state-of-the-art facilities, with skilled core staff, in metabolomics, proteomics, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, flow cytometry, and multiple biological imaging modalities including intravital imaging and an internationally recognized electron microscopy core. These core facilities provide training, guidance and support for ongoing projects across RML. Qualifications Experience and a background in molecular neuropathogenesis, neuroimmunology or animal models of infection. Applicants must hold a Ph.D., D.V.M., or M.D. Trainees will receive health insurance as well as a stipend commensurate with experience.
