Job Description

JOB SUMMARY JOB SUMMARY
The Postvention Specialist will increase capacity and infrastructure on the county level to support those who identify as suicide loss survivors. The specific goal of developing a county Loss Team is to connect suicide loss survivors to suicide loss survivor groups and other healing resources as soon after a loss by suicide occurs.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Recruit, engage and train a group of volunteers to support the Postvention Loss Team efforts
  • Collaborate with the Community Engagement Manager on collateral and material necessary to support outreach efforts
  • Oversight of contents, assembly and delivery of Suicide Prevention Care Packages throughout the county
  • Responds timely to inquiries within the community regarding support needs after a loss by suicide
  • Promote survivors of suicide loss support groups and other viable resources as needed and approriate
  • Keeps up with required trainings as it pertains to the role
  • Supports the integrity of the organization's mission in the public presence
  • Participates in community events (tabling or otherwise), as appropriate, within coverage area, some travel required. Mileage reimbursed at current IRS rate
  • Collaborates with staff to gain a strong understanding of how the organization operates and serves the community
  • Keeps Executive Director informed timely and meets with ED weekly
  • Flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, may be required)

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Travel within counties of service may be required - reliable, personal transportation
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Understanding of personal wellness
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Completion of secondary education
  • Experience in public speaking
  • Valid NYS Driver's License and proof of auto insurance
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
  • Prolonged periods of standing at community events
