Perform tasks such as recording vital signs, ordering labs, tracking patient's laboratory, radiology orders and referral results to completion. Initiate and maintain medical histories on patients, records observations, and identifies symptoms for use by the clinician. Report significant findings to the supervising nurse or physician. Perform direct nursing care to clinic patients via telemedicine, virtual, and face-to-face care. Conduct focused nursing assessments and contributes to the care plan. Maintain timely and accurate documentation of care provided and ensures adherence to established protocols. Communicate with patients and families to ensure they are informed about care plans and progress. Administer prescribed medications with increased independence, ensuring proper patient dosages, routes, and times are followed Prepare and delivers oral, topical, and injectable forms while monitoring for and responding to side effects or adverse reactions. Assist in performing and managing medical procedures, physical examinations, and treatments. Utilize electronic health record and information technology as effective communication and management tools to facilitate the patient experience and coordination. Assist with resuscitations, stabilizations, and other critical interventions as well as initiates emergency care as needed and assembles, operates, and monitors specialized equipment. Monitor patient responses during and after procedures, ensuring that any complications are addressed promptly. Ensure compliance with infection control protocols throughout all procedures. Provide patient and family education tailored to specific medical conditions, treatment plans, and recovery goals. Assist in counseling and educating patients to include, but not limited to diet, acute or chronic illness, wellness/preventative health measures, immunizations, demonstrating proper use of medical devices, and addresses questions about ongoing care. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Licensure:

A current license to practice as a practical or vocational nurse in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia; OR must have applied for a license to practice. Experience:

One year of nursing experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures, performing such duties as: sets up and maintains a sterile environment; measures patient's vital sign; administering medications via various routes; screening or updating patient medical records; and utilizing automated systems. This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
