Pre-Resident Nurse (current nursing student) December 2026 Grad

Job Description:

The Nurse Pre-Resident is an active nursing student accepted to the Nurse Pre-Residency Program, who is initiating the last semester of the academic nursing program, and will be transitioning to Nurse Resident position and program at Ballad Health upon graduation from the nursing program. The Pre-Resident will work under the direction of experienced licensed nurses and clinical nursing leadership who have a variety of nursing related expertise and serve as the Pre-Resident preceptor. The Pre-Resident will rotate through selected clinical areas as defined by the Pre-Residency program content, and includes areas desired by the Pre-Resident to facilitate and assist the student in transition to professional nursing practice. The Pre-Resident may take and give reports, assess the patient and document patient care provision under the direct supervision of the RN Preceptor. The Pre-Resident is supervised by an assigned RN preceptor performing delegated tasks at the discretion of the RN preceptor based on the assessment of the skill and knowledge level of the Pre-Resident. The RN preceptor must co-sign the Pre-Resident's activities. Medication administration may be observed, but no medications are to be administered by the Pre-Resident. The Pre-Resident can care for patients with varying levels of illness under the direction of an RN.

Requirements:

Must be a nursing student actively enrolled in an accredited Baccalaureate Science Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program who is initiating the last semester of an academic nursing program with anticipation of graduation at the conclusion of the semester. Must have a minimum of 2.75 GPA for consideration for this position. Team members in good standing without evidence of active written corrective action and with a GPA of 2.5 will be considered for this position.
