Staff and students spend 50% or more of their day, year-round outdoors. Role and Responsibilities Maintain a peaceful, clean, orderly classroom in accordance with LifeWays and Waldorf principles. Follow a consistent daily rhythm to support the growth and development of students. Manage classroom behavior in a positive manner, utilizing the power of natural consequences, in a quiet, calm and barely perceived manner. Become an "expert" in the development of the young child from a Waldorf/Steiner/Anthroposophical perspective, for children ages 4 to 6 years old. Maintain developmental portfolios on all children enrolled, including filing artwork and memos in child files. Execute the lesson plan, including "circle" with finger plays, songs, fine/gross motor movements, sensory experiences and classroom enhancements. Execute lesson plans. Interact with parents and school administrators as instructed to resolve any issues that may arise in the classroom. Utilize checklists to ensure that the opening/closing duties for the classroom are completed each day and that the classrooms are staged, materials prepared, and props created. Receive direction from the school's administration and the classroom Lead Teacher. Complete other tasks, as assigned, in a timely and efficient manner. Qualifications and Education Requirements Must have early childhood education experience (at least 2 years' experience suggested). Must have experience working in a licensed childcare center. Must have or obtain a current Williamson County food handler's card. Must pass a criminal background check and be subject to FBI fingerprinting. Must successfully complete two-week probationary/training period. Must complete all state-required professional development training. Must be able to work independently and under pressure. Must have stellar attendance and strive to exceed expectations. Must be on-time, efficient, neatly presented and well-spoken. Preferred Prefer applicants residing within 5 to 15 minutes of the Cedar Park/Leander area. Additional Notes Discount of 50% on childcare for preschool-aged children, provided space is available. Paid holidays during school closures after 90 days of employment. The school is closed for four weeks of breaks/year. Staff are paid for these weeks as well as Labor Day, Good Friday, and Memorial Day closures. One week of personal time per year after 90 days of employment, incremental hours earned each payroll. Health insurance available after 30 days of employment, with 50% of premium paid by employer. Retirement plan with 4% match.
