Job Description

Teachers at The Weston School are responsible for planning and implementing our curriculum, which fosters the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child. The role focuses on teaching developmentally appropriate skills to ensure children are well-prepared for kindergarten.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Duties:
Execute weekly lesson plans to teach skills such as colors, shapes, numbers, letter recognition, personal hygiene, and physical development through engaging activities like arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and group reading. Align lesson plans with classroom assessment goals, using diverse materials and resources to support learning and imaginative play. Observe and evaluate each student's progress, maintaining portfolios according to company standards, and collaborate with supervisors regarding any concerns. Communicate effectively with parents, conducting bi-annual conferences to discuss student progress and goals. Ensure compliance with Indiana State Licensing requirements, CACFP, and Paths to Quality guidelines and procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and tour-ready classroom environment with all necessary supplies available.
CACFP Responsibilities:
Accurately record attendance and complete daily meal sheets in compliance with CACFP guidelines. Assist in serving meals and snacks to children, ensuring portion sizes and meal components meet CACFP standards. Monitor children's dietary restrictions and allergies, ensuring all meals served are safe and appropriate. Engage children during meal times to promote positive eating habits and social skills. Maintain cleanliness and organization in meal areas, following all health and safety regulations.
Building Relationships:
Foster nurturing and supportive relationships with students, enhancing their emotional development through positive teaching and discipline. Work to build each student's self-confidence by recognizing individual strengths and encouraging active participation and social engagement with peers.
Non-Classroom Responsibilities:
Attend special events, staff meetings, and parent engagement programs. Demonstrate adaptability, flexibility, and a positive attitude while accepting supervision and direction. Build strong relationships with families and coworkers, adhering to all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required; CDA preferred. Proficiency in using tablets, laptops, typing, and Microsoft Office. Reliable transportation required; valid driver's license preferred. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Must pass background checks, drug screening, TB test, and physical exam. Must be 18 years or older (per Indiana state licensing requirements). CPR and First Aid certifications required.
Physical Requirements:
Able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted. Capable of standing for long periods, sitting on the floor, crawling, squatting, and stooping. Proficient verbal communication and conventional hearing abilities. Ability to handle objects, tools, and controls with hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. Must have near and far vision, color perception, and focus adjustment capabilities. Duties may involve travel and exposure to extreme temperatures during events or assignments. Willingness to assist with cleaning tasks, including sweeping, shoveling, salting, and trash removal.
