At Round Hill Nursery School, we believe young children learn best in a nurturing, play-based environment where curiosity is encouraged, relationships are valued, and each child is known and supported as an individual. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of early childhood development, a calm and confident classroom presence, and a genuine love for working with young children. This role is not only about leading a classroom, but also about becoming an active and positive part of the Round Hill Nursery School community. We are looking for teachers who are eager to collaborate with colleagues, support families, contribute to the life of the school, and uphold the warm, respectful culture that makes Round Hill Nursery School such a special place for children, families, and faculty. At Round Hill Nursery School, our teachers play an essential role in helping children grow socially, emotionally, cognitively, creatively, and physically. Responsibilities Develop and implement creative, age-appropriate curriculum plans that support literacy, early math, physical development, social-emotional growth, creative expression, and play-based exploration. Create a safe, engaging, and welcoming classroom environment where children are encouraged to participate, cooperate, problem-solve, and build respectful relationships. Engage with children through interactive lessons, storytelling, art, music, movement, outdoor play, and hands-on learning experiences. Support children's individual needs using developmentally appropriate guidance, positive classroom management strategies, and a strong understanding of early childhood development. Plan for and assess each child's progress using the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards, or CT ELDS, and the Developmental Observation Tool, or DOTS. Maintain accurate records, including attendance, lesson plans, developmental observations, behavioral notes, and other documentation required by Round Hill Nursery School and applicable childcare standards. Communicate professionally and thoughtfully with parents and guardians regarding children's growth, milestones, classroom experiences, and any concerns that may arise. Collaborate closely with teaching partners, administrators, and specialists to support the needs of individual children and the classroom community. Participate actively in the broader life of Round Hill Nursery School, including school events, faculty meetings, family partnerships, and community traditions. Support the mission and values of Round Hill Nursery School by contributing to a positive, professional, and collaborative school culture. Qualifications and Experience A degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred. Prior classroom experience in a preschool or early childhood setting strongly preferred. A strong understanding of child development, developmentally appropriate practice, and the needs of preschool-aged children. Experience with curriculum planning, observation, documentation, and assessment. Knowledge of the CT ELDS and DOTS preferred, or a willingness to learn and use these tools. The ability to create a warm, structured, and engaging classroom environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with families, colleagues, and administrators. A professional, flexible, and team-oriented approach. A genuine desire to become part of the Round Hill Nursery School community and contribute to the school as a whole.
