Job Description

Title:
Prescription Authorization Specialist Position Summary The Prescription Authorization Specialist is responsible for managing prescription processing, refill requests, and prior authorizations while ensuring accurate documentation in the EMR. This role serves as a key point of communication between providers, patients, pharmacies, and external facilities, delivering timely and professional follow-up in accordance with office protocols. Responsibilities also include coordinating lab requisitions, tracking biologic therapy patients for required monitoring, and escalating clinical concerns to providers as appropriate. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of medical office policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Familiarity with clinical workflows and EMR systems. Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently. Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and compassionately. Ability to remain calm and composed in urgent or high-pressure situations. Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with patients and healthcare team members. Education and Experience Experience managing prescription drug prior authorizations, including benefit verification, clinical documentation, and payer follow-up preferred. Minimum of two (2) years experience in a medical office required. Preference given to those who provide a cover letter, resume, and minimum salary requirements.
