Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Press Technician will apply knowledge in press operations to achieve production and press operational goals, ensuring production of high quality products while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The Press Technician will have strong technical knowledge of all press related equipment, including a thorough understanding of cold stamping and automatic transfer press operations. As primary technical resource responsible for press equipment and part production, the Press Technician will support Maintenance, Operations, and Quality.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Technical support, troubleshooting, and implementation of corrective actions including interface with press controls; 2. Create, document, and develop procedures and parameters required to ensure the press equipment meets all targets relating to quality, cost, and delivery; 3. Responsible for overall performance of transfer press operations; 4. Set-up, die changes, operations, and optimization of press and press related equipment; 5. Monitor operation of press to ensure high quality products, reporting any problems to team leader or supervision; 6. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, taking a proactive lead in improvement of process and related issues; 7. Complete inspection sheets to ensure product meets part specifications; 8. Document any downtime issues and assist with troubleshooting activities; 9. Partner with press/die engineering team, assisting with launch activities including die try-out; 10. Obtain overhead crane certification and operate in a safe manner; 11. Maintain a clean and safe work environment; 12. Cooperate with internal and external certification audits and customer audits, supporting site initiatives towards achieving and maintaining customer awards as well as quality and environmental certifications (IATF, ISO); 13. Adhere to Team Handbook, Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards, policies, and procedures; 14. Assure all safety devices are properly in place and utilized, Lockout/Tagout procedures are adhered to, PPE is worn correctly at all times, and reporting of any near-misses, injuries, or accidents occurs immediately; 15. Perform additional tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 1.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 2. A minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of job related work experience in a production stamping facility working with cold stamping, transfer presses and heavy dies; 3. Press controls, automation, and de-stacking expertise;KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 1.
Ability to read and understand standardized work instructions and inspection sheets; 2. Basic industrial math skills; 3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; 4. Ability to obtain hilo and crane certifications; 5. Desire to work in a team-based, lean-manufacturing environment; 6. Willingness to travel for training, and as other business needs may dictate; 7. Ability and willingness to work any shift, as well as overtime, as required to meet business requirements;PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION 1.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk and hear 3. Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds 4. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time 5. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate 6. The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences 7. The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand 8.
