Job Description

General Overview:
The Prevention Manager provides leadership and coordination of regional substance misuse prevention, suicide prevention, and related public health initiatives across the Winnipesaukee region. This position collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders, provides technical assistance, and promotes evidence-based strategies to address these priority areas. Working in close collaboration with regional partners, this dynamic and passionate individual will play a key role in the development and implementation of prevention strategies that address the needs of the region and align with state priorities.
Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation:
Lead regional prevention efforts using evidence-based strategies to promote mental health, reduce substance misuse, and prevent suicide Develop and manage a strategic prevention plan aligned with community and state priorities Use community needs assessments and stakeholder input to inform prevention strategies and Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) priorities Ensure initiatives address risk and protective factors and advance health equity
Grant Compliance, Data and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with all grant requirements, reporting, and documentation standards Collect, manage, and enter program data into state and internal systems Track outcomes and support continuous quality improvement Prepare required reports, including annual and progress reports Use data to evaluate program effectiveness and inform future planning
Community Education, Training and Outreach:
Deliver evidence-based prevention education, trainings, and community initiatives related to substance misuse, suicide prevention, and mental health Lead overdose prevention efforts, including Naloxone training and kit distribution Plan and facilitate prevention-focused events and community activities Support development and distribution of prevention messaging and resource materials Represent prevention efforts at community events and outreach activities
Collaboration and Coalition Building:
Facilitate stakeholder and coalition meetings to support coordination across the prevention system Build and sustain cross-sector partnerships across health, education, public safety, and community systems Coordinate with statewide initiatives Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to community partners
Interdepartmental and Organizational Responsibilities:
Collaborate with internal PPH programs to support integrated public health initiatives Uphold ethical, fiscal, and professional standards Participate in required meetings, trainings, and state-led initiatives Perform additional duties as assigned
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Human Services, Social Work, or related field Experience in substance misuse prevention, public health, or community-based programming preferred Experience with coalition building, grant-funded programs, or community engagement preferred Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) credential preferred, or willingness to obtain certification within one (1) year of hire
Skills:
Organization and time management Technical proficiency and attention to detail Strong written and verbal communication Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Strong interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders. Strong knowledge of substance misuse prevention, suicide prevention, and related public health issues. Physical Requirements Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include nights and weekends as well as being able to travel throughout the region and state as required. Minimal requirement to reach at or above shoulder level; occasional reaching below shoulder level required. Ability to tolerate prolonged sitting and/or standing and to lift up to approximately 25 pounds to waist high level whenever necessary. Pay:
$24.00 - $27.00 per hour
