Job Description Summary:

The Prevention Specialist supports the development, delivery, and evaluation of the Office of Equal Opportunity's prevention education programming for students, faculty and staff. Reporting directly to the Senior Prevention and Response Specialist, this role assists in implementing evidence-based initiatives, coordinating required training programs, assessing program effectiveness and developing innovative educational content. The Prevention Specialist will: Lead engaging, evidence-based prevention trainings for students, faculty, and staff, including but not limited to bystander intervention, sexual harassment and discrimination prevention, consent education, and related topics. Represent the Office of Equal Opportunity at campus outreach events and educational programs. Assists with social media content to increase awareness of resources, resolution options, and to engage the campus community Assist in the design, development, and revision of prevention training curricula and materials. Develop and maintain asynchronous training modules using platforms such as Articulate Rise and Storyline, Vyond, Adobe Premiere Pro, Comevo, and other instructional technologies. Ensure training materials reflect current legal requirements, emerging research, and best practices in higher education prevention work. Contribute to the expansion and continuous improvement of the Office of Equal Opportunity's virtual training library. Conduct research on best practices related to campus climate surveys and assist in drafting and refining survey instruments. Collect training participation data, participant feedback, and evaluation surveys. Support the Office of Equal Opportunity's participation in new student orientation, including logistics coordination, attendance tracking, and follow-up communications regarding mandatory training requirements. Assist with scheduling, communication, and coordination of campus-wide training initiatives. Support the implementation of strategic prevention initiatives under the guidance of the Senior Prevention and Response Specialist. Serve as a member of the university-wide PreventionGW Working Group. Collaborate with campus partners to promote a coordinated and holistic prevention strategy. The position is based at GW's Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC but may require travel to GW's campuses in Mount Vernon, DC and Ashburn, VA and to surrounding areas. Performs other work duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning tasks logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
