QUALIFICATIONS
1. A valid state certificate to practice as a school principal. 2.. Minimum qualifications as required by the Kentucky Department of Education.
REPORTS TO
Superintendent
SUPERVISES
1. Assistant principals. 2. Teaching Staff and Paraprofessionals. 3. Other Professional Staff. 4. All Nonprofessional School Staff. 5. Other Resource and Service Personnel while functioning in the assigned school.
JOB GOAL
To use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills so as to promote the educational development of each student.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supervises the school's educational program. 2. Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the schools staff and students. 3. Assists in the development, revisions, and evaluation of the curriculum. 4. Supervises all professional, paraprofessional, administrative, and nonprofessional personnel attached to the school. 5. Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating of the school's professional staff. 6. Assumes responsibility for the safety and administration of the school plant. 7. Delegates authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal. 8. Budgets school time to provide for the efficient conduct of school instruction and business. 9. Plans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness program. Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according due process to the rights of students. 11. Supervises and evaluates the schools extracurricular program. Assists in the inservice orientation and training of teachers, with special responsibility for staff administration procedures and instructions. 13. Supervises the preparation of all school reports for the district office. 14. Makes recommendations concerning the school's administration and instruction. 15. Assumes responsibility for the attendance, conduct, and health of students. 16. Assist in the management and preparation of the school budget. 17. Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students. 18. Acts as liaison between the school and the community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school life. 19. Makes arrangements for special conferences between parents and teachers. 20. Recommends the removal of a teacher whose work is unsatisfactory, according to established procedures. 21. Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Twelve-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the board.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
