Job Description
OBJECTIVE
The Principal of the Paul School serves as the instructional and operational leader of the school, responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and high-performing learning environment. As a key member of the district leadership team, the Principal collaborates with staff, students, families, and the broader community to support student success and continuous school improvement.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Administration Serve as an active member of the district leadership team, contributing to district-wide planning, roles, and responsibilities. Clearly define roles and responsibilities for all staff and effectively delegate authority. Coordinate the work of staff and ensure timely completion of responsibilities and initiatives. Make timely, sound, and practical decisions, recognizing and responding appropriately to emerging situations. Maintain professionalism, composure, and tact in high-pressure situations. Present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. The Principal works in a dynamic school setting requiring frequent interaction with students, staff, families, and community members. The role may require attendance at evening meetings and community events. Strategic Planning & School Vision Facilitate the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a shared vision for learning in collaboration with the school board, superintendent, staff, and community. Establish realistic goals, prioritize initiatives, and effectively manage time and resources. Promote innovation and continuous improvement in instructional practices and school operations. Instructional Leadership Oversee and support the implementation of a comprehensive and effective instructional program. Encourage the effective use of instructional materials and innovative teaching practices. Provide opportunities for collaborative planning, professional dialogue, and instructional improvement. Support and advance ongoing staff development initiatives aligned with district goals. Staff Supervision & Development Conduct regular supervision and evaluation of all staff in accordance with district policies. Assign, direct, and oversee all school personnel. Recommend candidates for employment to the superintendent in alignment with school board policy. Foster a respectful, collaborative, and supportive work environment that values staff input and well-being. Encourage staff to share ideas and communicate openly and effectively. School Climate & Student Support Promote a positive school climate that encourages self-discipline, respect, and student well-being. Supervise pupil services and remain accessible and responsive to students. Demonstrate a commitment to the individual welfare and success of every student. Operations & Fiscal Management Manage school operations to ensure a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment. Administer the school budget fairly, accurately, and responsibly. Lead budget development and resource allocation aligned with school priorities. Develop and manage grants as assigned. Family & Community Engagement Maintain clear and consistent communication with staff, families, and community members. Encourage community involvement and utilize local resources to enhance educational programs. Interpret and promote school programs to the community. Participate in community activities and respond to diverse community needs and interests. Governance & Compliance Attend meetings such as School Board and Budget Committee sessions as assigned. Ensure compliance with local school board policies, state statutes, and regulations. Understand and respond to the broader political, social, economic, legal, and cultural contexts affecting education. Professional Responsibilities Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth and ethical practice. Remain open to new ideas, research, and innovative approaches to education. Perform additional duties as assigned by the superintendent in accordance with district policy and state regulations.Job Type:
