Request Foods is seeking a PSM Coordinator you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Process Safety Management (PSM) program at Request Foods, in compliance with OSHA's PSM standard (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA's Risk Management Program (RMP) regulations. This role ensures the safe operation of ammonia refrigeration systems and other processes, mitigates risks, and fosters a culture of safety. The PSM Coordinator will collaborate with several departments such as operations, maintenance, and management teams to drive continuous improvement in safety and compliance.Essential Responsibilities:
PSM Program Management:
Develop, implement, and maintain the PSM program, ensuring compliance with OSHA, PSM, and EPA RMP regulations, including process hazard analyses, standard operating procedures, and mechanical integrity programs.Risk Assessments:
Conduct and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), including HAZOP, What-If, and Checklist methodologies, to identify and mitigate risks associated with ammonia refrigeration and other processes.Training and Development:
Coordinate and deliver PSM-related training for employees, contractors, and maintenance personnel on safe work practices, emergency response, and ammonia safety. Effectively communicate PSM concerns to members.Compliance Audits:
Perform regular audits and inspections of PSM-covered processes, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies. Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies.Incident Investigation:
Lead investigations of process safety incidents, near-misses, and releases, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Mechanical Integrity:
Oversee the mechanical integrity program for ammonia refrigeration systems, ensuring equipment is maintained, inspected, and tested according to industry standards (IIAR, ANSI).Emergency Response:
Maintain and update the facilities emergency response plan, coordinate with local emergency services and conduct drills to ensure preparedness for ammonia-related incidents.Documentation and Recordkeeping:
Maintain accurate PSM documentation, including Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, training records, and management of change (MOC) records.Collaboration:
Work closely with operations, maintenance, and environmental teams to integrate PSM into daily operations and support continuous improvement initiatives.Regulatory Compliance:
Stay current on federal, state, and local regulations related to PSM, RMP, and ammonia refrigeration, ensuring our facilities remain compliant.Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in process safety management, preferably in food manufacturing, refrigeration, or a related industry with ammonia systems. PSM/RMP certification (RETA, IIAR, or equivalent) preferred; OSHA 10/30-hour certification is a plus. Strong understanding ofOSHA PSM
(29 CFR 1910.119), EPA RMP, and ammonia refrigeration systems. Familiarity with IIAR standards and mechanical integrity requirements. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for conducting PHAs and incident investigations. Strong communication and training skills to engage employees and contractors at all levels. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and PSM software for documentation and reporting. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Regulatory knowledge working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations. Detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to fostering a culture of safety and compliance. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to cold temperatures, and perform occasional lifting, climbing, or walking during inspections.Benefits and Perks:
