Die Setter / Process Technician H.D.

We are currently seeking a hands-on, mechanically inclined Die Setter / Process Technician to support our production operations and help drive efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement across the plant. Position Summary The Die Setter / Process Technician is responsible for the setup, adjustment, troubleshooting, and optimization of molds, dies, and production equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This role combines hands-on die setting with process control and continuous improvement, requiring strong mechanical aptitude and technical expertise in blow molding and/or injection molding processes. Key ResponsibilitiesDie Setting & Machine Setup Install, remove, and set molds/dies in production equipment according to production schedules Perform machine start-up, shutdown, and changeover procedures Ensure proper alignment, connections, and functionality of molds and auxiliary equipment Conduct mold changes, cleaning, and upkeep Set up and adjust de-flashers and related equipment Verify setups meet quality and production standards prior to release Process Control & Optimization Monitor and adjust machine parameters including temperature, pressure, and cycle times Perform process control checks to maintain production consistency Troubleshoot molding processes, tooling, and equipment issues in real time Identify root causes of defects, downtime, and inefficiencies Recommend and implement process improvements Troubleshooting & Maintenance Support Perform basic repair and troubleshooting of molding equipment Address machine and process issues during production to minimize downtime Support preventative maintenance activities Purge machines and ensure proper material flow and machine readiness Quality & Continuous Improvement Conduct product quality checks and first-piece inspections Monitor product quality and minimize scrap Support efficiency and scrap reduction initiatives Maintain accurate documentation and process records Assist with standardizing work instructions and best practices Production Support Communicate effectively with leadership regarding production status and issues Assist in training operators on setup and troubleshooting procedures Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to achieve production goals Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety policies, GMPs, and housekeeping standards Adhere to OSHA and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required 2-3+ years of experience in die setting, mold setting, or process technician roles Experience with blow molding and/or injection molding preferred Technical or trade school training in plastics or molding processes preferred Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and process sheets Skills & Competencies Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of machine controls and process control systems Effective communication and teamwork skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Basic computer and math skills Additional Requirements Ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift certification required within 60 days) Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50-85 lbs Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, and reaching Ability to climb, balance, kneel, and perform repetitive motions Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Work Environment Manufacturing/production floor environment Exposure to machinery, moving parts, and industrial equipment Temperature variations depending on production conditions Required use of PPE If you are a motivated technician who enjoys troubleshooting, process improvement, and working in a team-oriented manufacturing environment, we encourage you to apply and grow your career with H.D.
