Job Description

The Procurement Specialist manages materials and services expenditures of
AMERICAN
by utilizing effective purchasing principles and procedures, and will also communicate with and analyze qualified suppliers while working toward acquiring the best materials for the Company. The Procurement Specialist will also develop relationships internally to enhance the quality of information shared between all
AMERICAN
divisions and Purchasing, and maintain a professional knowledge of market conditions and supplier performance to provide the best value available for a competitive advantage. Minimum Qualifications Must exhibit a bachelor's degree in Business or a related course of study from an accredited four-year college or university. Proof of degree required. A transcript or diploma would be acceptable and must be provided. Must exhibit excellent negotiation skills. Must exhibit a tolerance for stress, the ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines under a dynamic work schedule. The nature of this job requires performing job duties with numerous interruptions. Must exhibit the ability to effectively direct the activities of others Must exhibit good reasoning and analytical skills for identifying and resolving problems. Must exhibit good oral and written communication skills with all levels of the Company (i.e., good command of grammar and spelling). Must exhibit the ability to communicate in a courteous, polite, and effective manner, both verbally and in written format. Must exhibit good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with persons of different socio-economic, cultural, and educational backgrounds. Must exhibit the ability to cooperate well with other individuals and establish and maintain effective working relationships. Must exhibit a positive customer service attitude and demeanor. Must exhibit the ability to be resourceful in addressing customer requirements, both internal and external, with purchased materials and

products. Must exhibit a working knowledge in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. Must have basic knowledge of Material Management/Material Requirements Planning (MRP) software package. (Preferred packages are ASI, JD Edwards (JDE), SAP, Oracle, Infinium) Must be able to work extra hours on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as required to fulfill job duties. Must be willing and able to travel as required in order to perform the job duties and represent the Company when needed. Must possess a valid state issued driver's license. Must exhibit the ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately. Preferred Qualifications Two or more years in Purchasing or related experience. Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or Certified Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) purchasing professional designation or equivalent certification. Proof of certification required. A copy of the certification must be provided. Master's in Business Administration. Proof of degree required. A transcript or diploma would be acceptable and must be provided. Experience with
AMERICAN
manufacturing or comparable experience. Basic knowledge of International Organizational for Standardization (ISO). Active APICS certification. Proof of active certification required. A copy of the certification must be provided. Experience in more than one

product line or comparable outside product lines.
