Job Description

The QTI Group is partnering with a growing food manufacturing company to hire a Product Development Technologist (also referred to as Food Technologist). This is a newly created position within the Product Development team, added to support continued growth and expansion into new product categories. The team identified a need for additional technical bandwidth to support formulation, food safety, sensory programs, and regulatory documentation. The Product Development Technologist will play a key hands-on role in supporting product innovation and successful launches by executing day-to-day technical work across R&D, food safety, and quality. This role is well suited for someone with a few years of experience in food manufacturing or product development who enjoys being close to the product and working cross-functionally from development through production. This is a full-time, on-site role with a flexible first-shift schedule during regular business hours, Monday through Friday. Compensation starts at $55k/yr, depending on experience, with an additional 10% bonus paid quarterly.
Responsibilities:
Support product development initiatives across formulation, food safety, sensory evaluation, and regulatory documentation. Lead and participate in sensory programs to support product development and shelf-life validation. Perform new item risk assessments and ensure HACCP and food safety compliance. Review and approve raw materials for functionality, safety, and regulatory alignment. Create and maintain FDA-compliant Nutrition Facts Panels and ingredient statements. Design and execute shelf-life and challenge studies, including microbiological and stability testing. Champion daily sensory evaluation of raw materials and finished products to ensure quality and consistency. Apply culinary intuition to evaluate flavor, texture, and overall eating experience. Serve as a primary contact for supplier and customer inquiries related to food safety and product quality. Troubleshoot formulations and support seamless scale-up from R&D to production.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field (Dairy Science, Nutrition, Microbiology, Food Engineering, Culinary Science, etc.). 2+ years of experience in food manufacturing, R&D, or product development (dairy or refrigerated foods preferred). Working knowledge of food safety programs, shelf-life validation, and regulatory labeling requirements. Experience with Genesis or similar nutritional/labeling software. Knowledge of FDA labeling rules (21 CFR 101) preferred. Experience conducting or supporting sensory evaluation preferred. Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. #MMAS Product Development Technologist 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars Monticello, WI 53570 From $55,000 a year - Full-time The QTI Group 103 reviews From $55,000 a year - Full-time The QTI Group is partnering with a growing food manufacturing company to hire a Product Development Technologist (also referred to as Food Technologist).
