Job Description

Job Title Product Specialist - Ball Valves FLSA Class Non-Exempt Department Sales Type Part-Time Reports To Ball Valve Business Unit Manager EEO-1 Class Administrative Summary/Objective Product Specialist serves as the internal and external technical authority for an assigned product group. This role combines deep product expertise with customer-facing responsibilities to support existing accounts and ensures customer satisfaction from initial inquiry through order fulfillment. The Specialist builds and maintains strong customer relationships by providing technical guidance, configuring product solutions to meet application requirements, and resolving complex issues. Acting as the critical liaison between customers, sales, engineering, customer service, and manufacturing, the Specialist ensures clear communication across all stakeholders on matters including quotations, specifications, deadlines, and service level performance. Essential Functions Must have complete understanding of all technical aspects of the assigned product group(s) and become a technical expert. Familiar with product specifications and capable of pointing out the technical merits of one product to another. Develop and foster relationships with customers. Work with other departments to troubleshoot customer issues. Collaborates with sales and customer service teams to understand customer requirements, to promote the sale and to provide sales support. Act as the liaison between customer, engineering, customer service and manufacturing for unresolved or difficult to resolve technical questions or concerns. Confers with engineers, leads and management to discuss deadlines, quotations, materials and schedules. Ability to communicate and interact with potential customers at trade shows and expositions. Plan and modify product configurations to meet customer needs. Answer product or sales questions that cannot be addressed by Customer Service. Track orders related to the product group(s) to ensure that order processing and approval occurs in a manner consistent with agreed upon service level objectives. Will be asked to report on company performance related to the agreed upon service level objectives. Other duties as assigned. Work Environment Work is generally performed in an office environment with controlled heating and air, with standard office equipment available. Educations and Experience Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 2-year college degree or vocational or technical education. Strong technical and mechanical aptitude and knowledge. Must be proficient in oral and written communication with the ability to communicate in front of a group. Skills and Competencies Must be proficient with Microsoft office and company ERP software as it relates to their area of responsibility. Knowledge of major responsibilities, accountabilities, and organization of the sales function or business unit. Knowledge of and ability to use diverse tools, tactics and techniques to persuade a person to perform desired action. Knowledge of processes, tools, techniques and theory behind selling the organization's products. Knowledge of and ability to utilize customer profile and information. Knowledge of and ability to coordinate multiple and diverse options for selling Advanced math skills. Advanced knowledge of technical drawings. Must be proficient in English language. Must be able to read and write. Problem solving/analysis. Project management. Strong communication & presentation skills. Results driven.
