Job Title:
Shipping and Receiving Clerk Job Description This role supports a highly automated, climate-controlled production facility that manufactures totes and crates for major retail and automotive customers. You will handle shipping and receiving activities while focusing on stacking, palletizing, labeling, and decorating finished totes according to customer specifications. The position involves 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule and requires consistent attention to quality, safety, and accurate inventory control. Responsibilities Stack, palletize, and organize finished totes coming off automated production lines. Label, hot stamp, and decorate totes according to specific customer requirements. Perform assembly, decoration, and packaging operations for finished goods at the work center. Complete visual quality inspections of parts produced while performing assembly and packaging tasks. Identify and report work center, work order, and part quality concerns to maintain production standards. Apply finished goods labels, scan products into inventory, and move finished goods from machine locations to their next destination. Audit inventory in production locations to ensure physical product and transactional records match in the MRP system. Use tablets to print labels with accurate pallet quantities based on work order requirements. Learn and take on new responsibilities by following the internal growth and cross-training plan. Participate in safety and team meetings and contribute ideas for continuous improvement of operations and the work environment. Perform general material handling, including picking, kitting, packing, and packaging as needed. Support shipping and receiving activities by handling incoming and outgoing materials and finished goods. Stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, climb steps, and apply pressure frequently throughout 12-hour shifts. Follow all safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment, including steel-toed shoes. Essential Skills Experience with shipping and receiving operations. Ability to perform material handling tasks, including lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. Comfort working in a highly automated manufacturing environment alongside robots and machinery. Ability to stand and walk for the duration of a 12-hour shift. Ability to reach, climb steps, bend, twist, and apply pressure frequently. Basic machine operating experience in a production or warehouse setting. Experience with inventory, inventory control, and auditing production locations. Ability to perform picking, kitting, packing, and packaging tasks accurately and efficiently. Comfort using tablets or similar devices to print labels and manage pallet quantities. Attention to detail for visual quality inspections and accurate labeling. Reliability and punctuality to consistently work a rotating 2-2-3 schedule. Willingness and ability to wear steel-toed shoes and follow safety protocols. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment. Experience in shipping and receiving for consumer goods, automotive parts, or retail products. Familiarity with MRP or inventory management systems. Experience working in a highly automated or robotics-supported facility. Comfort participating in cross-training and learning multiple positions within production. Work Environment The role is based in a highly automated, climate-controlled production facility where robots handle a significant portion of the manufacturing process, while team members perform stacking, quality checks, labeling, and other general labor duties. You will work 12-hour shifts in a 24/7 operation following a rotating 2-2-3 schedule. Day shifts run from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with schedules such as Monday/Tuesday on, Wednesday/Thursday off, and Friday/Saturday/Sunday on, then rotating. The environment requires frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, climbing steps, and applying pressure throughout the shift. You will work around automated machinery and use tablets for labeling and inventory tasks. Steel-toed shoes are required as part of the dress code, and safety is a core focus in the facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ottawa, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
