Job Description
Production Machine Operator The Machine Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the company's manufacturing equipment, pre- and post- machining parts handling, and some warehouse duties. This position reports to the Operations Manager. What you'll do
Operating Machines:
Setting up, operating, and monitoring machines to produce parts according to blueprints and SOPs.Reading Blueprints:
Interpreting technical drawings and specifications to understand the required dimensions, tolerances, and processes for machining.Material Handling:
Selecting and preparing raw materials for machining.Tool Management:
Selecting and maintaining appropriate cutting tools and fixtures for the machining process.Machine Setup and Calibration:
Setting and calibrating the machines to ensure accurate operation.Monitoring and Adjusting:
Monitoring the machining process, adjusting as needed to maintain quality.Quality Control:
Inspecting finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.Post-Production Work:
Grinding and cleaning parts post-machining and packing parts for shipment.Troubleshooting:
Identifying and resolving machine malfunctions or process issues.Maintaining Work Area:
Keeping the work area clean and organized.Following Safety Procedures:
Adhering to safety protocols and procedures when operating machinery.Required Skills Technical Skills:
Proficiency in operating machines, reading technical drawings, using measuring tools, and understanding machining processes.Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to troubleshoot machine issues and make adjustments to ensure accurate production. Attention toDetail:
Precision and accuracy are essential for producing high-quality parts.Mechanical Aptitude:
Understanding of mechanical principles and machining processes.Communication Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members.Basic Math Skills:
Ability to perform calculations related to the machining processes (measurements and adjustments).Physical Ability:
Must be able to regularly lift and handle materials weighing up to 40lbs each. Preferred qualifications Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles. Proficient in CNC programing languages such asOSP300, PLC
controllers, or G-Code. Proficient in operating and programing Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM) using Hexagon PC-DMIS software. Experience in direct CAD or CAM software such as SpaceClaims or GibbsCAM Experience in the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) process and dimensional data capture. Forklift or Crane operation certification. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED Completion of a machinist apprenticeship or technical program 1-5 years of experience in machining Work Environment Manufacturing Facility and machine shop Exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, and moving machinery Shift Expectations- 4/10 work schedule, 10 hour shifts Monday-Thursday Why you'll love it here We strive to elevate our employees in an environment where they can excel both personally and professionally.
