Job Title:
Production Operator $19.50 - $20.50 Job Description The Production Operator sets up, runs, and supports plastic molding and finishing operations in a high-heat manufacturing environment. This role includes operating machinery, using hand and power tools, weighing and measuring raw materials, and finishing products to specification. The position requires frequent lifting, close attention to detail, and the ability to follow written instructions while working safely and efficiently across different tasks as needed. Responsibilities Operate production machinery to manufacture plastic products according to established procedures and safety guidelines. Use hand tools and power tools to assemble, finish, and prepare products for shipment. Measure and weigh raw materials, including resins, before machine operation to ensure accurate production batches. Monitor machines during operation and make basic adjustments as needed to maintain product quality and consistency. Clean and finish products, including removing excess material and preparing surfaces as required. Add accessories and components to finished products according to job specifications and work instructions. Label, organize, and stage orders accurately to support efficient workflow and on-time delivery. Lift and move materials and finished products, including frequent lifting up to 50 pounds for machine operation and up to 30 pounds for finishing tasks. Follow written instructions and production documentation to complete tasks correctly and safely. Support general labor tasks on the production floor, including weighing product, assembling parts, and assisting at various workstations as needed. Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency. Adhere to all safety procedures, especially when working around high-heat equipment and moving machinery. Work scheduled shifts reliably and be available to work some Saturdays during peak season, typically at least two Saturdays per month. Essential Skills Experience in heavy machine operation or a construction-related environment, or similar hands-on industrial work. Ability to operate basic manufacturing machinery safely and reliably after training. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for assembly and finishing tasks. Ability to read and follow written instructions and production documentation. Ability to read and use a basic weighing machine for measuring raw materials such as resins. Comfort working in a hot environment around rotational molding machines that function as ovens. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly for machine operation and up to 30 pounds for finishing work. Willingness and availability to work some Saturdays during peak season. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks while maintaining quality and safety standards. No high school diploma required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in manufacturing, assembly, or general labor in an industrial setting. Familiarity with rotational molding, plastics manufacturing, or similar production processes. Strong attention to detail when labeling, organizing orders, and completing finishing work. Flexibility to assist in different areas of the plant, including weighing, assembling, and machine support as needed. Reliability in attendance and punctuality across 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift schedules. Comfort working both independently and as part of a production team. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Chicago, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $20.00/hr.
