Job Description

Position:
Production Supervisor 1st shift 5:30 am - 3:30 pm M-F and Saturday's as needed
Location:
Coal Valley, IL Reports To:
Operations Director SUMMARY This position is a working supervisory position that is responsible for operation of production lines and supervising, assisting, demonstrating, performing and training up to 30 employees on the production floor.
CONNECTION TO MISSION
To provide customer satisfaction in the most efficient and cost-effective manner by producing safe, wholesome, and consistent product while maintaining a safe work environment. Production Supervisor's will support all GMP's, Food Safety and Plant Safety programs and have a personal value system that will assist in creating a work environment that is based on trust, human dignity, and honesty, which in turn will contribute to a high quality of life for all employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Perform, demonstrate, assist and train on each position on the production line. 2. Treat co-workers fairly, consistently and with respect 3. Meet product standards, i.e., thru put and cents per pound 4. Assure a safe work environment 5. Produce a safe and wholesome product to the required specifications 6. Complete appropriate paperwork on a daily basis, i.e., HACCP, pounds produced, complete all paperwork, etc. 7. Follow all guidelines and procedures as set forth by Valley Meats LLC, i.e., discipline, attendance, etc. 8. Play close attention to housekeeping issues on the lines 9. Maintain or improve product yields and thru-put on a by-item basis 10. Must communicate effectively to promote smooth, timely operation processes and cooperation between departments and employees 11. Responsible for training and developing employees in all areas related to their jobs 12. Other responsibilities as directed by management
GENERAL MANAGEMENT SKILLS/CORE VALUES 1.

This position is a working supervisor that will perform duties on the production floor, assist, demonstrate and trouble shoot issues in the facility, on a daily basis.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises, trains, demonstrates and assists up to 30 employees in production. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities will include interviewing, training; planning, assigning, and directing, assisting, performing duties; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with two years production experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
VERBAL/WRITTEN SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and product specifications. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and organize concepts on paper. Ability to speak effectively to employees of organization.
INFORMATION SYSTEMS SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Basic understanding of computer hardware and Microsoft Windows environments. Ability to learn routine and job specific functions in ProTrace. Ability to demonstrate basic computer abilities including storage and retrieval of data, basic work processing and spreadsheet usage skills and use of e-mail.
REASONING/DECISION MAKING SKILLS
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to use initiative to recognize problems and suggest possible solutions. Pay:
$60,500.00 - $70,000.00 per year
