Job Description

Founded in 1973, Acosta Tractors, Inc. (ATI) is a South Florida-based heavy civil engineering contractor with over 50 years of experience in underground utility construction, roadway construction, and site development throughout Miami-Dade and surrounding areas. ATI is seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on complex public infrastructure projects involving roadway improvements, underground utilities, drainage systems, and municipal/public-sector construction. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and eager to develop within the heavy civil construction industry. Candidate should be capable of working in a fast-paced construction environment while supporting multiple project activities from startup through closeout. This position provides direct exposure to Project Managers, Superintendents, Engineers, Subcontractors, Vendors, and public agencies, with significant opportunity for professional growth and long-term development within the company.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work alongside Project Managers and field teams to support day-to-day project operations
  • Assist with project startup activities, project buyouts, and procurement coordination
  • Review and become familiar with project plans, specifications, contracts, and compliance requirements
  • Compile and track project submittals, RFIs, permits, MOT's, and other project documentation
  • Support the preparation and tracking of project budgets, schedules, and cost reporting
  • Assist with obtaining vendor and subcontractor pricing, issuing purchase orders, and subcontract coordination
  • Coordinate material ordering, deliveries, and project logistics
  • Help maintain organized project files, drawing logs, revisions, and construction records
  • Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and follow-up documentation
  • Coordinate with Superintendents, Subcontractors, Vendors, Consultants, and Owners as needed
  • Assist with project schedule updates, look-ahead schedules, and progress tracking
  • Support invoice review, pay application processing, and project cost management
  • Assist with project closeout activities including punch lists, as-builts, inspections, and documentation
  • Support permitting activities and agency coordination efforts
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, organization, and communication throughout all project phases
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of construction experience and/or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Prior experience with roadway, underground utility, or public-sector construction projects is a plus
  • Must possess strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to work collaboratively alongside Project Managers and field personnel in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Candidate should demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, strong work ethic, and the ability to effectively support project coordination and communication between Owners, Engineers, Superintendents, Subcontractors, Vendors, and project team members.
  • Ability and willingness to continue developing an understanding of industry practices, construction processes, and project management standards within the heavy civil construction industry.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel, including the ability to create, manage, and maintain spreadsheets
  • Proficiency in Excel, OneNote, Teams, PlanGrid, PlanSwift, HCSS, and other industry-related software is a plus
