Job Description:
  • To be considered for this role, applicants need to currently reside in the Palm Beach County Metro Region
  • The Project Engineer supports and actively contributes to all construction stages of a CRA capital improvement project, taking on increasing responsibility in technical coordination, field oversight, and scope administration. This role serves as the main point of contact for the contractors in the field. Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage the construction life cycle of CRA capital projects including but not limited to vertical projects including retail, new commercial and residential developments, renovations or restorations of existing buildings, and tear downs.
  • Coordinate and manage the construction life cycle of CRA capital projects including related horizontal projects including streetscapes, ROW improvements, site preparation and other improvements. Projects are not high-rise in scale.
  • Support multiple projects across planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout, ensuring alignment with project goals, schedules, and budgets.
  • Review costs, track and analyze project budgets, review contractor pay applications, and assist in evaluating and processing change orders.
  • Participate in procurement processes, including contributing to RFP development, bid evaluations, and contractor selection recommendations.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, identify issues, and coordinate with contractors to support timely resolution.
  • Coordinate with city departments (procurement, finance, legal) to facilitate approvals and maintain project compliance.
  • Prepare and deliver project reports, presentations, and agenda materials for CRA and City meetings.
  • Engage with community stakeholders, supporting communication with residents, businesses, and public agencies regarding project progress and impacts.
  • Effectively communicate project milestones and deliverable timelines with Project Managers and Communications department to ensure high visibility and transparency. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in construction project coordination, engineering, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of construction phases, budgeting, cost estimation, and contract administration.
  • Experience interacting with contractors, consultants, and/or public agencies.
  • Experience with permitting, and planning and zoning.
  • Familiarity with public-sector procurement processes preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with construction/project management software preferred.
  • Basic understanding of drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to contribute to presentations and written reports.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment on routine project matters while escalating more complex issues.
